Sea School Objectives

The Sea School Marine Training Centre is made available to educate and provide practical training, courses and information to anyone interested in boating and boating safety. The Marine Training objectives are to make the general public and commercial boat operators aware of the following:

  • State and Federal laws and regulations as they pertain to boating and vessel operation.
  • Aspects of boating that not only help you become a safer boater, but also to make boating a more enjoyable activity.
  • Making boaters aware of their responsibility to themselves, their passengers, guests and other boaters.
  • Issues in boating which could potentially be dangerous to the marine environment.
  • Provide recreational and commercial boating courses
  • Provide quick access to private training and customised courses
  • Provide all participants with access to a training vessel for practical boat handling and vital education.
  • Provide training aboard any registered recreational or commercial craft in Australia
  • Encourage the public to use Sea School as a starting point to their boating education or marine certification.

MARINE RADIO, MROCP

  • MROCP Marine Radio Operators Certificate Proficiency
  • 27 MHz (UHF), VHF, HF, MF, DSC Digital Selective Calling, EPIRB
  • For off shore and in shore commercial crew; and recommended for recreational boaters

  • You will learn the stations, the language of calling and receiving
  • Learn the phonetic alphabet and radio etiquette
  • Understand the frequencies to use on each band
  • Troubleshooting, batteries, antenna, and so on

  • To gain endorsement the candidate must successfully complete one (1) unit of competency, as listed below.
  • You are then awarded a Certificate from the Office of Maritime Communications, and a Statement of Attainment in Marine Radio from Sea School Australia
  • This unit is a requirement for Certificate II Coxswain and Certificate III Master 5
